PHYSIOTHERAPY

THE
PHYSIOTHERAPY

"A physiotherapist is a healthcare professional who helps keep people moving and functioning as much as possible when they have a long-term condition like Parkinson’s, or an injury or illness".

Physiotherapy is usually split into three main sub-categories.

  • Neurology
  • Cardiorespiratory
  • Musculoskeletal

Neurology Physiotherapy assists in the rehabilitation of neurological conditions, such as Parkinson’s Disease. Your physiotherapist will work with you to progress your balance, coordination and strength, so that you may work towards living as independently as possible.

Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapy is the care of the lungs and the circulatory system. Your physiotherapist can show you exercises that may help you improve your posture and your breathing. Maintaining the circulatory system in your peripheries is also very important. Your physiotherapist can assist with this with exercise therapy and also with hands on treatment.

Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy is the area that deals with injuries to the human muscle and skeletal system, which includes muscles, bones and joints.
