VOLUNTEER TRAINING AND YOUTH PARTICIPATION IN PARKINSON’S NO LIMITS
Are you between 16 and 35 years old? Do you like to HELP others? Do you want to make the world INCLUSIVE? Do you want to bring and offer to the world a message of EQUALITY, SOLIDARITY and ACTIVE PARTICIPATION?
Then this training course is perfect for you!
The course focuses on what is functional diversity, especially Parkinson’s, what support for people with functional diversity can consist of and how to do it, how to collaborate in a group, how to support the health potential of oneself and others.
This will generate that the participants develop a use of their leisure and free time as a fundamental element of personality development, education and awareness of values of tolerance, respect, solidarity, non-discrimination and social integration of the group of people with disabilities. In this way, the active participation and autonomy of the youth population is encouraged.
It is planned:
- a cycle of face-to-face and/or online theoretical training meetings, with a total duration of 8 hours, during which the following topics will be covered:
- Identity, health potential and human potential;
- observation of the surrounding reality: local and global natural environment, local and global social environment, local and global cultural and transcultural environment;
- functional diversity: what it is, how it affects the daily life of the person, his/her family and his/her relational and environmental surroundings.
- what is stigma
- empathy and defence of basic human rights universally recognised as fundamental to the realisation of an inclusive, tolerant and peaceful world in which the dignity of the human being is respected and upheld.
- knowledge of the volunteer profile of the FuerteVida Parkinson No Limits Association;
- social skills and cross-cultural awareness;
- knowledge of communication techniques;
- self-care and well-being of the volunteer in his or her life and in the performance of his or her voluntary activity;
- vulnerability: what it is and how it impacts us;
- mobilisation techniques for people with reduced mobility
- knowledge of the Association and its users and the needs of the users and the Association;
- stimulate empathetic and inclusive skills, effective communication skills and the ability to share thoughts, projects, energies and resources.
- a cycle of practical face-to-face meetings lasting a total of 7 hours:
- development of communication techniques;
- development of observation techniques;
- development of those learnt in theoretical training
- development of empathetic and inclusive skills, effective communication skills and the ability to share thoughts, projects, energies and resources.
Following the enrolment applications we receive, we will conduct a preliminary interview with each participant (online or face-to-face) to assess their individual motivation and skills, also in order to optimise and personalise the training offer. After this interview, if the candidate is suitable, we will proceed to finalise their enrolment.
The theoretical and practical course will be conducted by:
Dr. Francesca De Bartolomeis, coordinator of the Association, Psychomotrician expert in Parkinson’s and other functional diversity, active techniques of corporal mediation (theatre, dance, visual arts, bioenergetics), relaxation and meditation techniques, Equine therapy, water motor skills, and teacher in different training courses.
Dr. Elena Berti, clinical psychotherapist and researcher, Mindfulness Instructor for the Mbsr protocol for stress reduction and Compassion Focused Therapyst) former classical ballet dancer at the Teatro della Scala in Milan and creator of the Soft Pilates method.
The Association’s users, therapists and instructors will obviously also take part in the practical activities.

7 September from 10.00 to 15.00 (theory and practice) in Puerto del Rosario, Centro Insular de Juventud, Cabildo of Fuerteventura
28 September from 10.00 to 12.30 (theory) in Puerto del Rosario, Centro Insular de Juventud, Cabildo of Fuerteventura
12 October from 10.00 to 15.00 (practice) in Puerto del Rosario or in Tetir
