April 11, 2021: World Parkinson’s day
This year more than ever, the desire to be together was a lot. The associations that have joined to participate in the 24h at a world level are many.
Coordinated by Parkinson’s UK, with the patient work of Richard Underwood, David Peter Sangster, Alex Flynn, with the support of the PD Avengers group with Larry Gifford, and Parkinson’s Concierge with Russ Bradford and Charlotte Allen, the initiative has expanded really all over the world.
For years, the World Parkinson Congress has been promoting and supporting dialogue and cooperation between associations around the world, between people with Parkinson’s, their families, therapists, doctors, researchers, all those who interact with this disease in various capacities.
Especially in 2020, we have become more practical in using some tools that technology makes available to us to eliminate geographical distances and to be able to dialogue and share experiences, even if, alas, only in virtual form.
While waiting for more peaceful times for everyone, on 11 April 2021 we went wild trying to give everyone their best, driven by the desire to be together!
Worldwide, we have organized ourselves in order to cover various time slots and create a real h24.
We at Fuerte es la Vida Parkinson No Limits have joined forces and resources with the Italian Association of Young Parkinsonians (Aigp).
Francesca De Bartolomeis, psychomotricist and coordinator of Parkinson No Limits consultants, and Massimiliano Iachini, vice-president of AIGP, requested and received video and audio messages from their associates and from friends met over the years in the various international conferences held. in the world.
They have received so many! It was not easy to arrive at a summary and we were not able to broadcast them all, despite the three hours of live Zoom and streaming on Youtube which began at 12.00 (Italian time).
On behalf of both associations, we wholeheartedly thank everyone who sent us their video and audio contributions!
The live on Zoom was attended by many people from Italy, the Canary Islands, Spain and England! And many people around the world are watching the videos aired these days.
In particular, we thank the Italian associations: Parkinson Sassari, Parkinson Valtellina, Parkinson Padova, ALP Parkinson Liguria, Parkinson Alghero, Parkinson Trento, Prendiamoci per mano Parkinson Liguria, Parkinson eMotion and ParkinZone.
Thanks to you and your associates present at the meeting for supporting Francesca and Massimiliano in holding the leitmotif of 3 hours of live broadcast; thank you for sharing the strong emotions that emerged; for the irony, the self-irony, the courage, encouraging the other, love, the search for oneself, the unimaginable strength that people are able to bring out to react to the difficulties of life, the passion, the joy for the small daily achievements, … The immense value of what we have shared and created together, all together, cannot be summed up!

Simone Righi, Symbolist Tattoo Artist and Counselor who accompanies us on a journey to rediscover ourselves, to transmute our frailties and disabilities into our strength through the ancient ritual of the ancestral tattoo and to consider pain is seen from a different point of view.
Pilar, surfer and instructor of adapted Surf (Surf Therapy) who accompanies us to experience the flow of the waves and go for a ride in the dopaminergic “UuAoOOO” of the wave !!
And a “Thank you very much” goes to friends Elisabeth Ildal, Parkinson’s Advocate for the World Parkinson Congress 2019 and founder of the Cure4Parkinson association in Copenhagen, and Julio José, Chilean by birth, who in California is very active in the Parkinson community, also internationally, and companion of many dance meetings organized with the association Pj Parkinson’s Support (USA) and with Massimiliano Iachini. Ely involved us with her positivity and enthusiasm, inviting us to live the present moment with enthusiasm and to rejoice in the daily achievements. Julio, with the determination equal to that of the Rock he loved so much, urged us to stay in touch, to create and maintain relationships with people who live with Parkinson’s because, even if of different nationalities, we all speak the same language!
Thanks to Fulvio Capitanio for his presence and precious company from Barcelona, the city that will host the next World Parkinson Congress in 2022.
Thanks to Parkinson Italia Onlus for following us in streaming on Youtube with Massimiliano we have chosen to dedicate a small tribute to Tom Isaac, for his great example, for his commitment, for that great communicative and expressive ability that has dragged, involved and passionate many people in facing common to face Parkinson’s and arrive to a cure. For this reason we have broadcast a video made by our friend Eros Bresolin some time ago, in honor of Tom!
The desire to respond to the difficulties of life starting from oneself, listening to and enhancing one’s health potential in synergy with nature and with our travel companions, has united us in an immense embrace coming from the depths of the heart of each of us.
