Parkinson No Limit

Customized for Parkinson's

Fuerteventura

Why we chose this island for our project dedicated to people with Parkinson’s and their families
Fuerteventura is a wonderful place whose climate, light, nature, and lifestyle create especially favorable conditions for those living with Parkinson’s.

Our Association was founded here because this island offers something that is difficult to find and develop elsewhere: continuity in outdoor activities, quality of life, and an environment that naturally fosters well-being, movement, serenity, socialization, inclusion, and greater autonomy.

A stable climate that facilitates movement

The island enjoys mild temperatures year-round, without sudden temperature changes, intense cold, or excessive humidity. This allows for outdoor activities to be enjoyed all year round, without limitations.

For many people with Parkinson’s disease, these conditions make it easier to spend more time outdoors, encourage movement, maintain consistent physical activity, and help reduce rigidity, which is often exacerbated by cold or damp weather.

Light: energy for the body and mood

Fuerteventura offers a large number of hours of natural sunlight.

This provides significant and scientifically proven benefits for mood, sleep quality, and biological rhythms. Sunlight promotes a more active lifestyle, helps combat apathy and depression, and contributes to the hormonal balance that supports psychophysical health. These are essential elements for everyone, and even more important for those with Parkinson’s disease.

Open and peaceful spaces, ideal for outdoor activities

The island is sparsely populated, offering expansive landscapes and unique natural environments (Fuerteventura has been declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO), uncrowded places, no traffic, and low levels of pollution.

These characteristics are fundamental. Therapeutic and wellness activities work best in a natural and tranquil environment, where the individual can focus on themselves, their movements, balance, breathing, and body and emotional awareness.

The sea as an ally for psychophysical exercise and health

The beaches and waters of the Atlantic provide an ideal environment for therapeutic and wellness programs.

The water of the Atlantic Ocean offers benefits for physical, mental, and psychological health, as demonstrated by various scientific studies and research.

A simple nature that invites you to slow down

Fuerteventura is essential.

It has a beauty that doesn’t distract, overwhelm, or stress. This unhurried pace has a concrete value: living without haste helps people with Parkinson’s and their families focus on a more balanced lifestyle, based on regular physical activity, contact with nature, and moments of mental calm.

An accessible island

Fuerteventura is an increasingly accessible destination for people with mobility difficulties.

Our long-standing presence on the island and the professionalism and commitment we demonstrate guarantee that those who trust us can enjoy the island with peace of mind, without having to face unforeseen problems related to accessibility barriers.

A small and quiet airport

Furthermore, it’s easy to get to. Its airport is small, uncrowded, and has a dedicated assistance service, which reduces anxiety, stress, and potential confusion for people with reduced mobility or special needs who have to travel.

In summary

Fuerteventura combines a favorable climate, restorative nature, safety, and accessibility,
offering the ideal environment for those who participate in our Association’s activities.

Here, people with Parkinson’s and their families can focus on well-being, rehabilitation, and quality of life.

For us, it’s not just a place: it’s the right space for our work and to welcome them.

We chose Fuerteventura because here we can concretely offer continuity, higher quality, and more opportunities to enhance their health and well-being.
